Overview of the Wine
Greer Vineyard is a small, three acre domaine located in the heart of the Rutherford Bench (however defined). It is part of the terroir that first made Napa Valley internationally famous, and inspired André Tchelistcheff to declare "it takes Rutherford Dust to grow great Cabernet." Our illustrious next-vine and nearby neighbors, including Scarecrow (J.J. Cohn), Staglin, and Phelps (Insignia) have burnished the credibility of his proclamation.

100% estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 19 months in 60% new, 40% once-used French Oak from Taransaud, Bossuet, Sylvain, and Darnajou. 454 cases bottled on 6/22/2021

99 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
In contrast, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is more round and supple, with loads of pure Napa magic in its notes of crème de cassis, toasted spice, smoked tobacco, and cedar pencil. Full-bodied, opulent, and loaded with fruit, it still stays pure, precise, and focused, with ripe tannins, a layered, multi-dimensional texture, and one incredible finish. I finished my notes with “Awesome.” Both the 2018 and 2019 are incredible; singular wines readers should seek out.

99 Points - The Wine Palate
Deep garnet-purple in color, the single-varietal 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is quite closed to start, soon unfurling to offer glimpses of blackcurrant cordial, baked plums, and boysenberries leading to perfumed wafts of violets, tilled soil, and black truffle. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers savory-laced layers with a rock solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long.

Glorious purity of fruit here with blackcurrant and violet aromas that follow through to a full body. Yet, it’s tight and poised, showing the essence of cabernet sauvignon. Super length. A joy to taste. Fantastic, but try after 2025.

Floral and berry aromas with fresh plums and sliced oranges. Complex fruit character. Medium to full body with tannins that spread across the palate. You know they are there, but you don’t feel the texture. Lovely, perfumed and perfectly ripe fruit character. Pure cabernet sauvignon.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a flat out stunner. Rich, ample, and explosive, the 2019 possesses tremendous depth and pedigree to burn. Dark red cherry, plum, lavender, spice, and menthol race across the palate. Time in the glass brings out a whole range of aromas and flavors that add stunning complexity. Iron, scorched earth, tobacco and incense linger on the potent finish. What a wine!
