Overview of the Wine
Ric Forman founded Forman Vineyard in 1983 to fulfill a dream of producing, as a sole proprietor, small quantities of classically made Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. After a three-year search of the Napa Valley for the perfect location, Ric purchased, in 1978, the current winery/vineyard site which is perched on a ridge at the base of Howell Mountain overlooking the town of St. Helena.
Consisting of 11 acres, our vineyards are divided into three parcels, each one planted to the four Bordeaux varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. A three-million-year-old riverbed is host to our largest vineyard comprised of gravel/sand deposits. Directly above the winery the steeply sloped plot is composed of more dense and larger volcanic rock, so much so that extensive dynamite explosions were needed for rock shattering to facilitate planting.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
The Bordeaux varieties that make up the blend show with outstanding clarity and complexity. A beautifully perfumed varietal nose. The color is bright, clear with a pretty garnet edge. Black fruit, smoked jalapeños, and even a subtle violet aroma are all evident.
96 Points - Vinous
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is a polished, silky offering. The 2021 is sleek and well-balanced, but despite its bright future, is also very young and in need of time. Building with time in the glass, this is classy, deep and exceptionally well-tuned. (AG)
94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is more elegant and restrained in the vintage, as well as slightly more mid-weight than both the 2018 and 2019. Its semi-translucent ruby hue is followed by a beautiful perfume of sweet redcurrants and raspberries intermixed with complex sandalwood, forest floor, and floral notes. Medium-bodied, with a ripe, elegant mouthfeel, well-integrated tannins, and outstanding length, it reminds of a terrific Graves from Bordeaux. It deserves 2-4 years of bottle age and will keep through 2051.
