Overview of the Wine
When setting out on our “crazy” quest to make wine, we did not have our sights set on any particular wine region. However, we knew two things for sure: we loved wines made from Rhone varieties, and being geologists, we understood the importance terroir plays in the making of world-class wines. Upon extensive research and travel, we kept coming back to Paso Robles for the weather, unique soils, hilliness, and extreme temperature swings that are known to this region and are found within each of our vineyard sites – Paderewski, Catapult, and York Mountain. The cowboy culture, entrepreneurial spirit, and unmistakable beauty were just added bonuses!

Our own epoch officially began in 2004 with the purchase of our Paderewski Vineyard (there is a REALLY cool story behind this property and its name, but in an attempt to not be too long-winded here and now, check out this story for all of the details). This chapter became so fruitful (pun intended) that we spread our roots to Catapult Vineyard in 2008 and then the historic York Mountain Winery two years later…Today we are beyond blessed to be stewards of these lands, and we are honored to carry on the legacies of York Mountain and Ignacy Paderewski through our wines.  Wines that are carefully crafted from Rhone, Zinfandel, and Tempranillo varieties.  Like we said, there are a multitude of stories begging to be told within this short summary, so we hope you take some time to read more about us and eventually come see us in person!

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Serious and starting off tightly wound, our 2021 Estate Blend is begging for a decant or to be opened hours before consuming.  Weighing more heavily on the savory, saline, and brine elements at first, the aromas start to evolve as this wine opens like a large hardback novel with the pages fanning out.  Kalamata olives, leather, wet forest floor, and roasted game open to pure blackberry, black plum, tobacco, bay leaf, vanilla, anise, and graphite.  Powerful structure juts out in all directions as the wine fills the mouth with abundant texture and spice.  Keep this bottle open for several days and witness how long it continues to offer different perspectives and textures – a true harbinger of the age-worthiness of this wine. – Jordan Fiorentini, Winemaker

96 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Quite dense in the glass, this blend of 40% Syrah, 24% Mourvèdre, 12% Grenache, 9% Graciano, 8% Tempranillo and 7% Carignan shows concentrated aromas of blackberry, black pepper and uplifting violet on the nose. The palate is wrapped in creamy, fluffy tannins that present comforting flavors of berry and spice. A leathery grip extends through the long finish.

95 Points - Wine Advocate
The 2021 Estate Blend comes mostly from the Paderewski Vineyard, with smaller portions from the York Mountain Vineyard and Catapult Vineyard. It's a blend of 40% Syrah, 24% Mourvèdre, 12% Grenache, 9% Graciano, 8% Tempranillo and 7% Carignan matured for 18 months in 28% new French oak barrels and puncheons. It has layered scents of blueberry, blackcurrant, grilled meats, oolong tea leaves and lavender. The full-bodied palate is structured with grainy tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity, and dynamic flavors on the long finish compel you to take another sip. 1,340 cases were made, which will be released in the spring of 2024.

95 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Blackberries, blueberries, ground pepper, violets, spring flowers, and graphite notes all emerge from the 2021 Estate Blend, a blend of 40% Syrah, 24% Mourvèdre, 12% Grenache, and the rest Graciano, Tempranillo, and Carignan. Pure, medium to full-bodied, and incredibly pure, it's going to drink nicely for at least a decade.

94 Points - Wine Independent
The 2021 Estate Blend is 40% Syrah, 24% Mourvedre, 12% Grenache, 9% Graciano, 8% Tempranillo, and 7% Carignan. It was aged 18 months in French oak barrels, 28% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it comes barreling out of the glass with bold notions of ripe black plums, blackberry preserves, and black cherries, leading to wafts of licorice, menthol, and cinnamon stick. The full-bodied palate has solid frame of fine-grained tannins and great tension supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing on a lingering anise note.

94 Points - Wine Spectator
This complex red is a little shy at the onset but slowly reveals itself. Leans into its savory side first, offering subtle heliotrope, bay leaf, and anise notes that meld with a generous and pure core of olallieberry and black plum. This swells with intensity, unlocking additional layers of gravel and coffee bean that form around well-structured tannins and linger. Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, Graciano, Tempranillo, and Carignan. Drink now through 2036.

94 Points - Vinous
The 2021 Estate Blend is dark and earthy upon first tilt of the glass. Grilled herbs and ashen stone give way to black currants and camphor hints. This is elegant and supple, with a silken wave of ripe fruits offset by saline minerals and exotic spice. Its acidity sets off fireworks through the finish, adding a fizzle of energy and lift. Edgy tannins buzz on the senses, and tart raspberry fruits slowly fade. Fantastic.

93 Points - James Suckling
Deeply perfumed and powerful nose showing aromas of blackberry compote, tar, potpourri and tobacco leaves. The palate is full-bodied with firm yet integrated tannins and bright acidity, showing notes of blackcurrants, poached blood plums, violets and sweet spices. A blend of 40% syrah, 24% mourvedre, 12% grenache, 9% graciano, 8% tempranillo and 7% carignan. Drink or hold.
