Overview of the Wine
The roots of the Leflaive family go back to 1717 when Claude Leflaive took up residence in Puligny-Montrachet, intent upon cultivating several acres of vineyards. The domaine, in its present form, was created by Joseph Leflaive between the years of 1910-1930, as a result of his successive purchases of vineyards and houses. Domaine Leflaive has been entirely a family domaine since its creation. Brice de La Morandière, great-grandson of the founder, Joseph Leflaive, represents the fourth generation at the head of the domaine. In 2015, after an international corporate career, he succeeded Anne-Claude, pioneer in biodynamics. It is with the same philosophy of respect for the great terroirs, humility toward the forces of nature and relentless pursuit of excellence in viticulture and in winemaking that the domaine will continue to grow in the future.

96 Points - Wine Advocate
I'm inclined to nominate the 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes as Leflaive's finest premier cru this year. Wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, citrus oil, fresh peach, toasted nuts and smoke, it's full-bodied, rich and satiny, with an immensely concentrated and incisive profile. Taut and chiseled despite its mid-palate plenitude, it's built to cellar.
96 Points - Vinous
The 2019 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru is a step up in terms of mineralite and terroir expression from the preceeding Folatieres. There is more precision, greater expression of place. The palate sports a very small reduction on the entry, then ie segues into a very concentrated mid-palate that seems to fill the mouth. Great depth and spiciness towards the finish, this is an outstanding Combettes from Leflaive. Closure: Diam 30
95 Points - Burghound
Moderate reduction is sufficient to mask the underlying fruit today. More interesting are the wonderfully fine and delicate yet punchy flavors that possess a highly sophisticated mouthfeel before culminating in a sappy saline and strikingly persistent finish. I very much like the balance and this beauty may well prove to be a great Combettes in time. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*
94 Points - Falstaff
These are some of the steepest and highest vineyards at Leflaive on a stony slope towards the hamlet of Blagny. The oak is beautifully integrated here, embellishing the freshness and drive of the wine, with subtle honey, kitchen spice rack and citrus flavours. 2020-30.
