Overview of the Wine
Domaine des Geais consists of 3 hectares of vineyards located in the Côtes du Marmandais, an appellation just south of Bordeuax, located between the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers in Southwest, France. The Domaine is run by the Boissonneau family, who have been making wine since 1839, primarily in Bordeaux. Today, the sixth generation of family members run the estate, led by Pascal Boissonneau.
Eleanor of Aquitaine (then Queen of England) ordered monks to plant the first vines on this 72 hectare estate in 1150. The property stretches over the right bank of the Garonne river across the hillsides of Saint Michel de Lapujade, and benefits from the mild and humid air that rises up from the sea and travels down the Garonne valley.
Pierre Boissonneau purchased the property in 1839, and descendants Christian, Pascal, Phillippe, and Nico have transformed it into one of the best places in Bordeaux for value driven organic wine.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Bouquet of fresh blackcurrant fruit, with a good intensity of flavors. A full-bodied and well-balanced wine, rich and concentrated. Short maceration (one week), depending on the variety, at variable temperatures from 10 to 12°C. After the run off, the temperature is elevated until 20°c in order to start the fermenting process. We keep the temperature
at 24°c during the fermentation to create the best conditions for the natural yeasts.
90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
An eclectic mix of Abouriou, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah come together in a fruity, juicy wine, bright with succulent acidity and freshness. The wine's grape chorus sings well and will be ready from 2024. Organic
90 Points - James Suckling
A fresh, aromatic red with notes of ripe berries, flowers, licorice and dried orange peel. Medium-bodied, soft and polished with lingering, velvety tannins. Juicy and fruit-forward with hints of earthiness in the aftertaste. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
