Overview of the Wine
The Tarlant family can look back on a long family history, one that can be traced back to 1687. For almost three and a half centuries they have devoted themselves to viticulture in the Marne Valley in the Champagne region. But it was only after World War I that the first hugely successful Champagne Tarlant was created. Today, brothers Jean-Mary and Benoît operate the family-owned company.
With a total of 14 hectares spread over 55 plots, the winery is very small compared to other Champagne houses. Tarlant is a real insider tip, featured on the wine list of some of the world's most prestigious restaurants, and it was not easy for Baur au Lac Vins to come by a few bottles. These sparkling wines are unusual, but all the more fascinating for it.
The hand-picked grapes are gently pressed in the traditional basket press. The fermentation and maturation of the basic wines are carried out in barrels. Tarlant attaches great importance to a particularly long bottle ageing on the yeast, so the flavours can fully develop. This can easily take seven to ten years. These Champagne wines are always dry and receive little or no dosage.

Tasting Notes
The NV Brut Nature BAM!, Tarlant’s Pinot Blanc, Arbanne, and Petit Meslier blend, is terrific. It offers notable energy and tension, with lovely complexity from the perpetual reserve that is used to complement the base vintage, in this case, 2011. Lemon confit, marzipan, dried flowers, tangerine oil and lightly honeyed notes linger nicely, with a range of bright saline accents that lend further energy and focus. This release is terrific.
94 Points - James Suckling
A dense and fruity Champagne with richness and a compact palate of fine bubbles and complex fruit. Subtle biscuit to the mineral, cooked-apple and spiced-pear flavors with a stone undertone, as well. Drink and enjoy.
94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Pale straw with a youthful green tinge, the NV Champagne BAM! Brut Nature has 2011 as its base, with the rest from the perpetual reserve. Very pretty in its aromatics, with fresh pear, lemon curd, sherbet, and a lift of citrus blossoms, it’s medium-bodied and focused, with a refined mousse, an elegantly rounded midpalate, and a clean, saline finish. A very pretty style, it’s drinking well now and will continue to improve if given time over the coming 10 years. Drink 2024-2034. Disgorged June 2022
