Overview of the Wine
The history of the Soldera Case Basse winery began in the early 1970s. Gianfranco and Graziella Soldera nurtured a project to produce a high-quality natural wine and knew they could only achieve this if they found a terroir with certain essential features.
When they discovered Case Basse, they knew they had found what they were looking for: an enchanting estate, which lay uncultivated and abandoned at the time. Instinctively realising the potential of the place and bowled over by the beauty of the landscape, Gianfranco and Graziella decided to set up their winery here and planted the first vines between 1972 and 1973, carefully choosing the plots most suitable for growing Sangiovese.

Tasting Notes
Aromas of cherries, dried flowers and dried tobacco. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins. Beautiful layers of silky tannins and a fine finish in the end. Needs time. Burgundian in style... Best after 2006.
95 Points - Wine Advocate
The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is an unquestionable success. It displays heady, complex aromas of smoke, tar and scorched earth, along with plenty of sweet dark fruit and tobacco flavors, in a potent, brooding style showing a rich inner tension between its fruit and the structure of the vintage. It should drink well to age twenty-five. Even though it carries an exorbitant price tag, the Riserva is well worth the extra dollars in vintage 1999. A great effort. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2024.
