Overview of the Wine
The Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer is located in Magny-lès-Villers between Beaune and Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Hautes Côtes of Burgundy. The special nature of the Domaine's situation arises from its unique position, at the point where the Hautes Côtes de Beaune and the Hautes Côtes de Nuits meet.

The Estate extends over 11 ha. We mainly offer red wines from the Côte de Nuits, with our Echezeaux " From Above » Grand Cru, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru « Les Damodes », Nuits-Saint-Georges Village "Les Hauts Poirets". You will find also Côte de Nuits-Villages, produced in the town of Corgoloin, as well as that our renowned Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune and Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nights in white and red.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Dark, dense ruby color. Aromas of black fruit dominated by notes of violets and peonies. Initially closed but a little oxygenation brings out notes of sweet spice and a complex, meaty aroma. Big, bold and muscular taste, the wine is very rich on the middle palate, with the aromatics continuing through to the finish. A good structure also through to the finish. 

Could age for 20+ years or more. Serve at 15-16°C.  Open 10-15 minutes before tasting. Ideally served in Burgundy glasses. A perfect accompaniment for slow cooked, braised or roasted red meat dishes and, at maturity, with game. Also beautiful alongside oily fish in sauce such as lamprey and eel.

In spite of the bold personality of this vintage, this wine has a wonderful silkiness and an animating linear acidity that gives a light feel, although it is quite a rich, medium- to full-bodied Echezeaux. Very fine tannins and very good concentration, with plenty of rooty and savory complexity in the long finish. Drink or hold.
