Overview of the Wine
Established in 1967 by regional pioneer Dr Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding wine estate. Pristine isolation, ancient lands and twin oceans make Margaret River a wine paradise and one of the world’s greatest environments to grow ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. These varieties, alongside Shiraz and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends are the primary focus at Vasse Felix. All wines are grown in Vasse Felix’s four Margaret River vineyards then vinified and bottled within the modern winery, situated at the Home Vineyard overlooking the Wilyabrup Brook. The Vasse Felix Cellar Door - also located at the Home Vineyard - is renowned. Featuring a tasting room, wine lounge, art gallery, wine museum and one of Australia's most acclaimed restaurants, visitors are welcomed from all around the world, eager for the ultimate Vasse Felix experience.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Deep garnet with a ruby red tinge. Lovely blood plum and cassis fragrance, with graphite, bay laurel, violets, spicy charcuterie, and a hint of bouquet garni mixed with cedar. Incredibly soft, juicy and approachable with intense dark fruit flavour. Silken berry puree with fresh fruit acidity and a soft powdery dry tannin finish with lingering cassis and dark chocolate flavours.

A fabulous vintage of Filius, and a total bargain for this level of quality. Layered aromas appear from first sniff: plump currants and plums, dark chocolate, savory herbs and florals, graphite and a mineral, iodine-like nuance. In the mouth, there's bright fruit and silky texture, with savory, fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. Made to drink now or to age for several more years. A wonderful intro to this distinctive Aussie style.

The nose is deeply scented and perfumed with an underlying power, showing notes of blackcurrants, dried herbs, boysenberries, violets and mulberries. The palate is medium-bodied with finely integrated tannins, bright acidity and notes of wild blackberries, tobacco leaves and mocha. Very well constructed.

90 Points - Wine Advocate
The 2022 Filius Cabernet Sauvignon is supple and bright, with raspberry, nori, dark chocolate, mulberry and licorice. The finish has tart acidity, which is a little distracting, and a black cherry succulence to it that rights the ship.
