Tasting Notes
Aromas and flavors of black plum, violet and herbs surround a wonderful texture, with enough chewiness to make the wine stand up to food. It is a typical every-day wine, that is well paired to many dishes. The wine is characterized by a purple color and is characterized by good soft tannins, with final full and supported by a strong fruit forward power.
Made entirely of the Montepulciano grape from the foothills of central Italy’s Abruzzo region. Abruzzo's rugged terrain, 65% of which is mountainous, help to isolate the region from the winemaking influence of the ancient Romans and Etruscans in Tuscany but the area has had a long history of wine production. Montepulciano makes some famous top-end big reds here in the Abruzzo, but the variety also makes amazingly good inexpensive red wine, far better than comparable Sangiovese.
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Aromas of coffee, dark chocolate and condensed black berries start off the brooding nose. The palate shows bright, thick-skinned cherry and berry flavors, with persistent acidity and a light mineral edge. The tannins are polished and extend nicely on the finish. - Alexander Peartree
