Overview of the Wine
At the foot of Mont Ventoux, in the southeastern Rhône Valley, Château Pesquié is a family wine estate at the heart of the Ventoux appellation. Three generations of the Chaudière family have put all their passion into producing wines with the characteristic freshness and finesse of this exceptional terroir.
For fifty years, three generations of the Chaudière family, who own the Château, have worked with the same desire to explore and fully express the terroir of AOC Ventoux. The vineyard is certified organic by Ecocert.
Alexandre and Frédéric Chaudière, the latest generation in charge of the estate, tend their vines according to biodynamic principles, with care and precision. This late-ripening terroir is characterized by its geological richness and a predominance of limestone.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Purple color. Aromatic nose, with notes of violet flower, licorice, spices and fresh blackberry. Velvety texture in the mouth, aromas of strawberry, raspberry, graphite and violet flower, with a long and slightly peppery finish.
94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Mostly Syrah, the 2020 Ventoux Artemia reveals a Northern Rhône-like style in its darker fruits, bacon fat, leather, and iron-driven aromatics. I always find a Côte Rôtie-like style in this cuvée, and the 2020 is no exception. Medium to full-bodied and balanced, with fine tannins, enjoy bottles over the coming 10-15 years. This cuvée is mostly Syrah from higher elevation, cooler, gravelly limestone soils.
93 Points - Wine Advocate
The terrific 2020 Ventoux Artemia—a blend of 75% Syrah and 25% Grenache from a single gravelly limestone plateau—was aged in a combination of demi-muids, barriques and concrete. Concentrated and intense, with strong overtones of licorice and cracked pepper, it delivers waves of ripe cherries and purple raspberries. Full-bodied and creamy-textured, with a long, velvety finish that adds hints of smoked meat, it manages to be complex and elegant yet hearty and powerful. Tasted three times, with consistent notes.
91 Points - James Suckling
