Overview of the Wine
Le Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded in 1999, uniting under a single signature the 91 acres of vineyards owned by the Boisset family. Our vineyards are in 30 different appellations in the Côte d'Or, with two-thirds in the Côte de Nuits and one-third in the Côte de Beaune. Our first vineyard, purchased by Jean-Claude and Claudine Boisset in 1964, is the single vineyard Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Evocelles", and our latest jewel, the Vougeot Premier Cru "Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot" Monopole is part of our 24 acres in the Vougeot appellation. Pierre Vincent, our winemaker, focuses on the pure expression of Burgundian terroir using organic farming and biodynamics, respecting the environment and making truly unique wines. We are proud to announce that 100% of our vineyards are certified organic by Ecocert since the 2007 harvest.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
The Clos de Vougeot grand cru, founded in 1110, is a famous climate of Burgundy. The soil rests on a limestone base to which is added a soil of pebbles and silts. Yields are deliberately low: 10hl / hectare. The wine is aged for about 17 months in 50% of new barrels. This wine has a deep garnet dress. The nose is bursting with fragrant floral perfumes (peony, violet). In the mouth we find the sweet touch and acidic aromas of small berries such as raspberry. At the end of the mouth it offers refreshing notes of spices such as mint and licorice. In the great vintages, it is tireless and will still be able to show a lot of youth after 30 years of cellar.

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast
For a Clos de Vougeot, this is at first surprisingly mineral. Only as the wine opens in the mouth do you find this beautiful ripe fruit, an explosion of red berries driven forward by black plum skin flavors and dark tannins. It is certainly powerful, but manages to wear its power lightly.

93 Points - Wine Spectator
Massive, as far as red Burgundy goes, with a wall of intense cherry, sweet oak, violet and black currant pastille. Underneath there's a firm structure of acidity and tannins. Needs at least five years, maybe 10, to really come together. Best from 2012 through 2030.
