Overview of the Wine
Tasca d’Almerita’s story begins in 1830 when brothers Lucio and Carmelo Mastrogiovanni Tasca purchased almost 3,000 acres in the Regaleali region of Sicily. The website notes, “introducing the most modern agricultural technology available into the Sicilian backcountry.” Ten years later, the dowry of Lucio’s wife included Villa Camastra, today’s Villa Tasca, the Palermo residence of the Tasca d’Almerita family today. In 1882, Richard Wagner finished the 3rd Act of Parsifal while a guest at Villa Tasca.
In 1950, the redistribution of land during Italian agricultural reform reduced the Regaleali estate to 1,240 acres. Four years later, the current vineyards were planted. In 1960, the family planted their first white grapes, including catarratto using the guyot pruning system. In 2018, Tasca d’Almerita is the first wine estate to be certified Viva—SOStain.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
On June 3, 1985, Count Giuseppe Tasca d’Almerita celebrated 50 years of marriage to his wife Franca with a wine that recounts the history of the family and the Estate. Its unique varietal composition is the hallmark of its romanticism, born from Inzolia and Sauvignon, the latter selected from a vineyard present at Regaleali since the end of the First World War. The use of
selected yeasts from our vineyards ties this wine even more inextricably to its terroir. Fresh at a young age and capable of unexpected longevity, it balances the tertiary aromas with the intensity of the fruit.
92 Points - Wine Advocate
This is a beloved Sicilian blend of 59% Inzolia and 41% Sauvignon Blanc (a Tasca clone). The Tenuta Regaleali Tasca d'Almerita 2022 Sicilia Nozze d’Oro opens to a shiny luminous appearance and cheerful aromas of citrus, bergamot, bitter almond and crushed oyster shell. The wine is fermented cold in stainless steel and aged on the lees for a quick five months followed by six months in bottle. The Inzolia vines were planted in 1972 and the "Sauvignon Tasca" in 1998. Production is 33,000 bottles.
92 Points - James Suckling
A solid, well-made and flavorful white. On the nose it shows aromas of apples, spiced pears and wild herbs. It’s medium-bodied with a well-rounded, juicy and creamy texture and character. Structured and balanced, with a long, flavorful finish. Drink or hold.
