Overview of the Wine
"WE BELIEVE there's a lot to be said for the way winemaking used to be. There were no chemicals, no "technological advancements" that made the process a process, and natural balance was more important than balance sheets.
Some people dismiss it as old-fashioned nostalgia, but we like to think of it as ancient wisdom. And we embrace it as much as we can. Not just because it's better for the earth, but because it makes for better wine."
The Chenin Blanc is harvested from a single vineyard on the Reyneke farm, located in the Polkadraai Hills to the west of Stellenbosch. The vineyards are the oldest on the farm being in excess of 50 years old and are located on a combination of decomposed granitic loam on a clay sub-soil. The grapes were whole bunch pressed before light settling and then fermented in a combination of 300l second-fill French oak barrels and a 2500l foudre. The wine was then aged on its lees for 10 months with a further two month aging in stainless steel tank before bottling.

Tasting Notes
A lovely bouquet of fresh mandarins and kumquat followed through by floral notes and honey comb undertones. The palate has a beautiful freshness with a tight linear structure. Layers of citrus fruit, washed stone and spice carries through to a long aromatic finish. The wine pairs well with Asian cuisine, pork dishes and trout.
