Overview of the Wine
With a family traditional of several generations in the agricultural activities in the Baião regions Alexandre Gomes received a legacy connected to its land, people and the countryside activities that always fascinated him. With a developed vineyard and motivated by the quality of the wines produced Alexandre and Dialina, his wife, create in 2005 the company A&D Wines and project an expansion in infrastructures and vineyard area.

In 2016 they present four new references of 2015 harvest, the first of A&D Wines at Quinta de Santa Teresa. They introduce the brand Monólogo for the three wines and unique parcel, namely Monólogo Arinto P24, Monólogo Avesso P67 and Monólogo Chardonnay P706. This last one is located in Quinta dos Espinhosos. They also present Singular, “blend” according to the choice and taste of Eng. Fernando Moura, oenologist at A&D Wines.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
With Singular we want to express the "singularities" of each harvest, doing so by pursuing the ideal proportion of each variety in the blend, which is based in wine from our older vineyards. Our Quinta de Santa Teresa, singular as well for its geographic position, next to the border that separates the Vinho Verde and Douro regions, is the birthplace of the grapes with which we produce this wine.

Singular reveals a complex aromatic profile, with notes of orange tree and white flowers, a smoky side and some vegetal notes. On the palate it shows itself elegant, with notes of hazelnut, white pepper and orange peel. A captivating wine, finishing long and fresh. It will age well in bottle.

90 Points - Wine Advocate
The 2019 Singular is 45% a field blend from old vines (with grapes like Avesso, Malvasia and Rabigato and vines ranging 60 to 100 years old), plus 24% Alvarinho, 11% Malvasia Fina and 10% each of Avesso and Arinto. It was partly (15% of the juice) aged for six months in used French oak. It comes in at 13% alcohol, 5.2 grams of residual sugar and 6.8 grams of total acidity. The acidity provides good balance for the modest sugar, so this still shows dry. The latest release in the mini-vertical this issue, this has the advantage of freshness first and foremost. Just smelling it makes this seem exuberant and lively. You can tell it is the youngest without tasting it. It doesn't seem as big or as complex as the 2017, but it is far more refreshing. It makes the more stolid 2018 look dull. This 2019 looks like it has some upside potential because of its superior freshness. Let's lean up a bit just for that potential, but it certainly is true that the 2017 shows far better today. This runs nine euros in Portugal. There were approximately 15,000 bottles produced.
