About the Producer
Founded in 1958 in the town of Borja, called Borsao in the 4th century B.C., this winery represents what can be done with Garnacha, a grape that is not well appreciated by the Spanish press. Through meticulous selection, work in the fields and at reception time in the winery, modern winemaking produces this highly fruity wine. One of the best examples of the region known as "The Garnacha land of Spain", the lower part of the Ebro River.

Grape / Blend
55% Garnacha, 39% Syrah, 6% Mazuela

Origin
Campo de Borja, Spain

Characteristics of the vineyard
Mount vineyards from 20 to 60 years old located at 350-700 meters of altitude, with stony-conglomerate soils, pebbles, sandstone, limestone and clay.

Winemaking
Fermentation of each variety separately in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 24º – 28º C with a peak of 32ºC. Maceration for 15 days in total. The wine is aged for 12 months in Bordeaux barrels made of French (90%) and American (10%) oak.

Winemaker's Tasting Note
Elegant Ruby garnet color over a deep cherry red. Aromas of vanilla with intense fruity tones and soft tannins coming from the wood. Long, pleasant and harmonic aftertaste, perfectly structures and fleshy.

Food Pairing
Pasta, rice, salads, white meats and barbecues.

Alcohol 15.19%

91 Points- Wine Spectator
Full-bodied, yet fresh and lively, this red delivers bold flavors of cherry compote, dried fig, cocoa, toast and licorice. Light, firm tannins and citrusy acidity keep this focused. Garnacha, Syrah and Mazuelo. Drink now through 2026.

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The new impressive red blend 2016 Cabriola mixes Garnacha with Syrah and a touch of Cariñena (Mazuelo), and despite its 15.5% alcohol, it feels harmonious and balanced in an XL way. It comes in a heavy Burgundy bottle, closed with a quality cork, and it all feels like a more expensive wine. It has a modern profile, but the oak is neatly integrated and folded into the fruit that is ripe and juicy. The tannins are fine and the flavors focused. The price feels too good to be true (if it retails in Spain for €11). They produced 96,000 bottles that were filled after 12 months in oak barrels.

91 Points - James Suckling
A juicy, rather jammy red with cherry, dried strawberry, some raisin and ash. It’s full and flavorful. Not the most complex wine, but showing good fruit and freshness for its age.
