Overview of the Wine
“I can proudly say that the name Rochioli has been associated with this area for over 85 years. My father, Joe Rochioli Jr. had the foresight to know that the soil of this unique spot in the Russian River Valley was very special and would one day produce some of the world's greatest wines.” – Tom Rochioli, Winemaker
Our family legacy began in 1911 when my grandfather, Joe Rocchioli Sr. immigrated to America along with his parents, Michele and Menichina Rocchioli (they later dropped the second "c"). Originally from a small village just outside of Lucca, the Rocchioli’s were one of many Italian families that arrived in New York, made their way across the country, and settled in Northern California.
In those days children worked from a young age, and so my grandfather, still only 10-years old, labored alongside his father on a farm called Wohler Ranch, in the Russian River Valley.
The fourth generation has joined the family winery. Tom’s daughter, Rachael, currently is the General Manager of the winery and Tom’s son, Ryan, is working as an assistant winemaker in production. Tom is looking forward to the future of Rochioli Winery and having his children work alongside him.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Sixty four percent is from the original Sauvignon Blanc vineyard planted in 1959, twenty three percent is from our rare clone 376 and thirteen percent is from our 36-year-old hillside vineyard. This wine is stainless tank fermented at a cool temperature to preserve its intense varietal character and firm acidity.
A bright silver/straw color, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is a single vineyard blend with 64% Old Vine Selection, 23% Clone 376, and the rest Hillside planting. Coming from other-worldly looking old vines, Sauvignon Blanc doesn’t get much better than this in California. Lovely flinty reduction frames this wine with a gorgeous, refined, floral perfume of wet stone, white currants, white pepper, grapefruit, and delicate baking spice. Medium-bodied, it has fantastic concentration, driving, mouthwatering, fresh acidity with a linear feel, and a fantastic, long finish with a chalky mineral texture. Exceptional and age-worthy, it deserves another couple of years in bottle to show its best. Drink 2026-2038.
