Overview of the Wine
Domaine Paterianakis is a third generation family company, a pioneer in the production of wine from organic grapes on the island and one of the few wineries in Greece with a vertical organization of its production process. They cultivate six unique indigenous and five first class international varieties using the latest οrganic techniques. Domaine Paterianakis has been producing world famous and award winning wines for a long time.
Ancestors of the Paterianakis family used to cultivate grapes and sell them to the nearby vinification factories in Melesses. Giorgos, the current owner, replanted the old vineyards in 1988 with organic practices. Later in 1990, he valorized the estate by constructing a new vinification house, bottling areas, underground storehouses for barrels, and much more. Today, Emmanuela Paterianakis runs the family winery, accompanied by her sisters, Niky and Georgia. She joined the business in 2001 after studying oenology at the University of Athens.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
This velvety, certified organic Greek red is a blend of two indigenous Greek grapes, Kotsifali and Mandilari, and hails from the island of Crete. This is special, very distinctive stuff that delivers plush red cherry and pomegranate fruit on the palate and the sweet perfume of hibiscus flowers on the nose. What a rare and delicious discovery.
From Ian Blackburn - great nose, mouth and taste - a great value and a nice package as well. I will be taking this home for some fun summer mediterranean dishes... ideal for shish Kabobs, lamb, chicken, eggplant, grilled items... very flexible and enjoyable.
RECOMMENDED or I wouldn't buy it.
