Winemaker's Tasting Notes
With an effort to keep the property as natural as possible, the vineyard has been farmed sustainably for decades with an effort to reduce erosion and soil compaction. Most of the vineyard is no-till, meaning the vine rows are only mowed in an effort to minimize inputs and preserve soil health. Much is farmed organically with the exception being the steep, rocky hillside terraces that have special requirements. The property is certified “Napa Green” and “Fish Friendly Farming.”
The bright cherry fruit is dominant, and that classic Farella aromatic structure keeps the wine as intriguing on the nose as it is texturally on the palate. You'll be charmed by the deft freshness and volcanic acidity, too, meaning this wine is soft, but with a shimmer of zing underneath, making it a perfect food wine.
92 Points - James Suckling
Lots of plum and currant aromas here with some flowers and green olives. It’s full-bodied with round, ripe tannins and a generous finish of fruit. Drinkable now, but better in 2023.
