Overview of the Wine
A new star has emerged in the heart of the Loire Valley: he is Jacky Blot of Domaine de la Taille aux Loups, in Montlouis and Vouvray. Montlouis is located on the southern bank of the Loire, opposite Vouvray. Blot, originally a Loire wine broker by profession, acquired about 8 hectares of 50-75 year old vines in 1989. These prized, ancient parcels belonged to families that could no longer continue to cultivate the vines and so entrusted them to Blot and his team. Blot brought a passion and exacting determination to make wines of only the highest quality, well beyond the norm of the day. Now more than 25 years on, Blot is the acknowledged pioneer of the region and is credited with having taken Chenin Blanc to unprecedented heights of quality.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Certified organic, 100% Chenin Blanc from 40-50 year old vines. South exposure. Sand clay soil with lots of silex on pure limestone. 23 meters before hitting the limestone. Indigenous yeasts. No malo. Fermented and aged in barrel (20% new, 80% 14 year old barrels).

96 Points - Decanter
Tender and restrained notes of fresh lemon zest, lemon pith and honey on the nose, but on the palate there is an opulent, seductive feeling. The long, precise finish is exquisite, but needs more time in bottle to develop, where it will certainly age well. A true grand vin with a potential for 98 points. The 12-hectare Clos de Mosny is a real clos – enclosed by a wall – in the commune of Saint-Martin-le-Beau in the southern part of Montlouis. It faces due south and it has a variety of soils – sand in the lower part, and clay and flint over a bedrock of limestone. The Blot family are the sole owners and only the best parts of the Clos are used in this single-vineyard wine. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermentation and maturation is in Burgundian barrels.
