Overview of the Wine
Pierre-Yves Colin was the winemaker for his father's Domaine Marc Colin until 2005. He began his own domaine, first as a micro-négociant operation, focusing on tiny quantities of the finest wines that he can buy. Now he has grown his domaine with the help of family holdings to 70% plots that he owns and 30% grapes he purchases. His holdings are mostly in Chassagne-Montrachet (where the domaine is located) but he also produces multiple bottlings of Meursault, St. Aubin, and Puligny-Montrachet. Pierre-Yves has rapidly become a star in Cote de Beaune and is now considered one of the pre-eminent young producers of White Burgundy. His choice to use larger demi-muid barrels and eschew the use of battonnage, makes each one of his bottlings a clear expression of its terroir and a study in mineral-driven Chardonnay. Tasting in the Colin-Morey cellar (or anywhere you are lucky enough to have a bottle), is truly a special experience. With each vintage Pierre-Yves continues to prove his enormous talent and we look forward to drinking his years for many years to come!

Tasting Notes
Unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear and citrus oil mingled with notions of wet chalk, struck match and wheat toast, it's medium to full-bodied, taut and incisive, with racy acids and terrific concentration, concluding with a long, penetrating finish.
96 Points - Decanter
The wine is super-rich and concentrated, with pronounced aromas that range from lemon peel to passionfruit. It is an impressively powerful wine, but there is a creamy, delicate side to it as well. Marvellous. The domaine completes the work in the vineyard for this 0.25ha parcel of vines, although in the end Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey purchases must, not grapes. Despite this difficulty, it manages each year to produce an exemplary Perrières.
96 Points - Jasper Morris
The colour is lemon and lime whereas one might expect more yellow in Perrières, but the bouquet has the requisite power and a certain reductive character. Huge weight and concentration especially the further back on the palate you go. Racy notes but above all the expected flesh. Tasted: October 2021.
96 Points - Wine Advocate
There's only one 350-liter barrel of Colin's 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières, and it's one of the highlights of the range. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear and citrus oil mingled with notions of wet chalk, struck match and wheat toast, it's medium to full-bodied, taut and incisive, with racy acids and terrific concentration, concluding with a long, penetrating finish. The 2020 vintage is another very promising year for Pierre-Yves Colin, who finds the wines a bit more charming and demonstrative than the more serious, structured 2019s—the latter a vintage we revisited in bottle and which appears to possess considerable aging potential. As readers may know, Colin's bigger cuvées are crushed and see four-hour press cycles, whereas smaller cuvées aren't crushed but see even longer press cycles lasting five or more hours. Vinification and maturation in barrel, with a heavy emphasis on larger-format barrels, follows. (WK)
94 Points - Burghound
This is also quite aromatically restrained and only grudgingly displays its nose of smoky mineral reduction, cool acacia blossom and spiced green apple scents. The succulent and relatively generous mid-palate contrasts noticeably with the tightly wound medium weight flavors that seem to be built on a base of tiny stones, all wrapped in a sleek, highly transparent and pure bone-dry finish. This is very backward and a wine that will almost certainly need all of decade to realize its full, and considerable, potential. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*
