Overview of the Wine
Founded in 1875, Weingut Robert Weil is considered to be one of the Rheingau’s younger wine estates. It is located in the heart of Kiedrich, a village first documented in the year 950. Kiedrich Turmberg and Kiedrich Gräfenberg, the estate’s top vineyards, are among the finest sites in the Rheingau.

The estate cultivates 90 hectares (222 acres) of vineyards, of which 100 percent are planted with Riesling. Today, Wilhelm Weil, the great-grandson of the estate’s founder, carries on the tradition of uncompromising, quality-oriented vineyard and cellar practices – a tradition that has been the hallmark of the winery for four generations.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Gräfenberg, meaning 'the hill of the counts', was first recognized in the 12th century for the quality of wines produced there. The vineyard is now recognized as Grosse Lage (grand cru) level. The vines are planted on steep, southwest-facing slopes, under shelter from a side valley. The soils are deep and stony with phyllite, providing desirable drainage and deep-set root growth. The grapes are hand-harvested after being left on the vines to reach peak levels of ripeness without being infected with botrytis, and the yields prove to be very low. The grapes are pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks, and the fermentation process is halted with chilling temperatures. 

Aromatically this wine is a touch salty, with petrol notes, and Meyer lemon. On the palate, the wine is full of sweetly ripe peaches, grapefruit, white chalk, and an unmistakable creaminess that lasts on the palate.

The 2025 Riesling Kiedricher Gräfenberg Spätlese not only offers lime in its green-flavor spectrum but also crushed chervil that verges into Mirabelle plum and even white pepper. There is almost an overtone of passion fruit and a certain creaminess. Purity and poise ring, all of it cut with laser precision, flying like a steel arrowhead, piercing clouds of citrus, then plunging into Mirabelle. This is just too delicious, sharp and pure.
