Overview of the Wine
The history of Finca Vandama dates back to the late 50’s, when the black listan grapes, white listan and muscat began to transform into wine, leaving behind their previous destination in local markets. The name “Vandama” pays homage to the volcano of Bandama and Daniel Van Dame, a 16th-century Flemish merchant who acquired the Hacienda de la Caldera, located next to the crater of the volcano. This union of history, geography and legacy gave rise to Vandama red wine.
Since then, generation after generation, we have cultivated this land with the same respect for nature and for the trade of wine. Over the years, we have learned to interpret our volcanic terroir, to respect the rhythm of the strains and to let each harvest tell its own story. Finca Vandama not only represents a wine estate: it is a way of understanding the territory, of honoring the memory of the past and of building a sustainable future, where each bottle is a testimony of an unrepeatable place. The story goes on, and it is renewed every time someone discovers the volcanic soul of our wines.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Vandama Tinto is a farm wine made with Listán Negro and Negramoll, fermented in stainless steel and macerated for 30 days. Its clean and direct character faithfully reflects the volcanic landscape of the Caldera de Bandama.
92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 Vino Tinto was produced with the grapes from their young volcanic soils at a much lower altitude. It's mostly Listán Negro with some 10% Negramoll, fermented with 60% full clusters in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured in stainless steel for one year. It has a fragrant nose, quite fruit-driven, with a deep color and some tannins, coming through as an undeveloped baby but unmistakably a volcanic red. It has a medium-bodied palate, with moderate ripeness and 12% alcohol. 4,000 bottles were filled in August 2024
