Overview of the Wine
The history of Finca Vandama dates back to the late 50’s, when the black listan grapes, white listan and muscat began to transform into wine, leaving behind their previous destination in local markets. The name “Vandama” pays homage to the volcano of Bandama and Daniel Van Dame, a 16th-century Flemish merchant who acquired the Hacienda de la Caldera, located next to the crater of the volcano. This union of history, geography and legacy gave rise to Vandama red wine.
Since then, generation after generation, we have cultivated this land with the same respect for nature and for the trade of wine. Over the years, we have learned to interpret our volcanic terroir, to respect the rhythm of the strains and to let each harvest tell its own story. Finca Vandama not only represents a wine estate: it is a way of understanding the territory, of honoring the memory of the past and of building a sustainable future, where each bottle is a testimony of an unrepeatable place. The story goes on, and it is renewed every time someone discovers the volcanic soul of our wines.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Reventón is a deep and expressive wine, born on a north-oriented plot on clay and volcanic sand soils. Fermented with a barrel scrape and raised one year, it transmits the strength of the terroir with intensity.
93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2023 El Reventón has a smoky nose with notes of coal and darker fruit. It's a plot on a slope facing northeast, with more clay, giving it a fruit-driven and spicy character with some effect from the stems (it fermented with 100% full clusters). This is quite approachable, not reductive but clean and fruit-driven, juicy and tasty, with very fine tannins. It's balanced and fresh, with purity. There was one 500-liter barrel that filled 600 bottles in August 2024.
