Our philosophy is simple: Creating the most natural and expressive wines California can offer. We believe in allowing the fruit to fully reveal itself in our wines, encouraging the personality and terroir of the vineyards, while showcasing itself to the fullest extent. Thus, allowing the wines to be true to their nature and bring harmony to the bottle.

Mike started his winemaking journey under the tutelage of Winemaker Thomas Brown in 1999. Traveling from Portland Oregon, Mike worked each crush "free of charge" to learn the craft. In 2006, Mike ventured out on his own, now making a multitude of critically acclaimed wines including Myriad Cellars, Quivet Cellars, PerChance Estates, Becklyn Cellars, Scarlett Wines, Kindred Cellars, Komes - Brockoff and Flora Springs. To quote Mike, "My philosophy is simple: I like to create the most natural and expressive wines California can offer. I believe in allowing the fruit to fully reveal itself in the wines, encouraging the personality and terroir of the vineyards, while creating a product that is true to its varietal character and sense of place."

With Thirty-Eight perfect 100 point scores to his name, Mike has twice received the most 100-point scores from Wine Advocate in a single vintage, and he has received numerous professional honors from Wine Advocate, Jeb Dunnuck, Vinous, and Wine Spectator.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Dark red fruit on the nose, dense, concentrated, pure fruit driven with woven spices and minerality on the long and winding finish. A supple palate of dark berries, dark plums, fig, tobacco, a streak of licorice right down the middle. Crushed gravel lift in the mid palate plays off the natural acidity, leading to spectacular tannin management. Big, bold and beautiful all at the same time.

This well-draining site with valley floor depth consistently produces powerful, concentrated wines with a gravely grip and hints of anise and plush classic Cabernet red and dark fruit. A well-loved rock star in our portfolio and picked 10 days prior to the Elysian bottling.

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2022 Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 22 months in French oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it races out with notes of crushed blackcurrants, menthol, and black raspberries, followed by hints of lilacs and pencil shavings plus a touch of crushed rocks. The full-bodied palate is tightly knit with soft acidity and grainy tannins, finishing a lingering ferrous note.

While I don't see the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard coming close to the 2021, it's nevertheless a gorgeous wine that has ample ripe red and black cherry fruits, medium to full-bodied richness, ripe, velvety tannins, and some classic tobacco, spice, and leathery nuances. This forward, sexy 2022 will drink nicely right out of the gate.

Myriad's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard showcases awesome black cherry fruit alongside some deep, earthy notes and cinnamon. Imagine tasting brandied cherries in liquid form but without the heat. It's full-bodied and supple, with an almost creamy mouthfeel and a plush, lingering finish.
