Overview of the Wine
MAIL ROAD is a project born of a commitment to place.
We strive to produce wines of uncompromising excellence and distinction. Impossible-to-forget wines. Wines that open hearts and engage minds. Wines that are powerful, yet graceful and balanced. Wines that reveal the passion and uncompromising craft that went in their creation. Fifty miles northwest of Santa Barbara, California, on a steep, south-facing cliff, a short few miles from the Pacific Ocean, Mail Road meets its end at the geographic center of The Sta. Rita Hills AVA, the historic and iconic Mt. Carmel Vineyard. The wines produced by Mt. Carmel fruit are remarkable in their lean toward site specifically and marked by deep concentration, exceptional depth, structural complexity and bracing acidity.

Winemaker Matt Dees Tasting Notes
Lovely balance between lifted floral elements and earth-driven spice. Layered with luscious red fruit. Ripe Gaviota strawberry, rhubarb and dark raspberry. Rose and pink peppercorn. Sweet tobacco and porcini mushroom. Bold fruit shines on the mid-palate. Highlighted by herbal and resinous tones. Earthy and so complex. Full of pleasure today and wonderful glass for tonight.
92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
Starting with the two Pinot Noirs from Mail Road Wines, both of which are from the Mt. Carmel Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, the 2020 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills reveals a vivid ruby hue as well as a bright, juicy, medium-bodied style in its ripe raspberry and cranberry fruits interwoven with sappy underbrush and chalky mineral-like nuances. It's balanced and has an elegant, streamlined texture as well as good length.
