Overview of the Wine
Liquid from Farming
The name Liquid Farm describes the authentic nature of wine (liquid from farming), and reflects our strong belief that all great wines start in the vineyard. It is truly all about selecting the right locations and the highest quality fruit, then allowing the varietal and regional typicity shine through from vineyard to glass.
Liquid Farm wines reflect an Old World style while embracing the local Santa Barbara County viticulture and climate. We focus on wines from one of the coolest of California AVA's – the Sta. Rita Hills. It’s home to some of the most unique, ancient soils in North America and is perfect for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Jeff has been in the wine business for the past 20+ years, working for some of the top Champagne and Burgundy houses. With the name Liquid Farm on Jeff’s mind for many years, it was the catalyst for starting the project in 2009 with the helping guidance of Brandon Sparks-Gillis of Dragonette Cellars.
James, a native of Idaho, initially worked with Liquid Farm wines via Dragonette Cellars, where his winemaking career started in 2009. Prior to that he grew up surrounded by a family of bakers. Since baking and wine making involve many similar processes, James has been perfecting his talent for precision, organization and creating exceptional taste and quality for many years.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
When putting together the final blend for the Golden Slope, Liquid Farm is looking for barrels exhibiting a bit more richness and depth than the White Hill. Once those barrels are identified, they introduce about 15% new French Oak and age the wine for 15 months prior to bottling. The resulting wine is something that reminds them of some of their favorites from Meursault.
They have endearingly nicknamed this wine "Goldilox" because of her impeccable balance of richness and fresh acidity. She is "just right!"
95 Points - Vinous
The 2019 Chardonnay Golden Slope is a super-expressive Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay laced with apricot, tangerine oil, almond, chamomile, honey and light tropical accents. The 2019 is racy and opulent, with gorgeous textural resonance and impeccable balance to match its extroverted personality. I loved it.
95 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2019 Chardonnay Golden Slope is shimmery and expressive, with scents of white peaches, spring honey and a stony undercurrent. The medium-bodied palate combines a satiny texture with tangy acidity and energetic citrusy character, and it finishes with expansive savory layers.
