Overview of the Wine
Domaine Ferret has played a key role in defining the quality of the region. It was the first domaine in Pouilly-Fuissé to begin bottling on the estate, shortly after the Second World War. Further, its long-standing focus on vinifying each parcel of vines separately has allowed for the identification of the top terroirs. The Domaine Ferret portfolio falls into three tiers: Classic, Têtes de Cru and Cuvée Hors-Classe. The Tête de Cru and Hors-Classe parcels that have been identified are a precursor to the stratification of the appellation system (which is currently under consideration by the Institut National des Appellations d’Origine). As in the Côte d’Or, the wines in each range reflect their particular terroir, and these top cuvées are produced only in great vintages.
Domaine Ferret’s estate vineyards are comprised of 18 hectares throughout the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation; 14 of these are located in the amphitheater of hills surrounding the town of Fuissé and 4 are near the Roche de Vergisson, in the north of the appellation. These terroirs and the relatively low yields, allow the production of exceptional cuvées. The vineyards are managed sustainably with an aim toward an even more rigorous respect for environmental concerns.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Located at the exit of the village of Fuissé, behind the Mont Pouilly in the middle of the slope, this vineyard covers 80 "ares" and is East oriented. The vineyard has been renewed three times from 1974 to 1999. The second time was in 1989, 200 years anniversary of the French revolution. With a well-anchored Mâconnaise footprint, and a dense material, the Ménétrières are a perfect Fuisséenne illustration as Jeanne Ferret understood it. After a light aeration emerges floral aromas but also lemon and lemon balm notes. We note a nice lengthening and a delicate and sappy finish.
94 Points - Tim Atkin
Pretty floral scents are laced with marked mineral top notes. The palate is nicely compact with notable mid-palate concentration. Salted apple slices mix with fresh hay and warm, fresh flowers. Charming to the hilt! Drink: 2024-2030.
91-93 Points - Burghound
Moderately generous wood stops short of fighting with the ripe aromas of citrus confit, spiced pear and a suggestion of exotic fruit in the form of white peach. There is again a lovely sense of minerality to the beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a clean, dry and youthfully austere finish. This balanced and refined effort is already nicely complex and a wine that should be approachable young but have no problem aging well over the mid-term.
