Overview of the Wine
Ancestors of father and daughter team Paul and Laurence Féraud farmed olives, cherries and grapes in Chateauneuf-du-Pape dating back to the 17th century. The methods established centuries ago carry on in the current vintages, creating robust, concentrated, traditional red and white wines. For many years the winery was known as Domaine Feraud fils and they made traditional Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

In 1987 Domaine du Pegau was formed as we know it today, when Laurence Feraud returned from her winemaking studies and she teamed up with her father Paul to create the winery. Complementing each other they have conserved the authenticity and quality of their Chateauneuf-du-Pape whilst bringing it to the attention of wine lovers around the world.

Tasting Notes
Possessing a thrillingly complex, mature feel, with full-bodied richness and a layered, textured and seamless mouthfeel, this puppy was singing, with loads of lavender, peppery herbs, game and dried flower-like aromas and flavors.

97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
The 1990 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée has fantastic aromatics of licorice, beautiful dark fruit, spice and subtle earth notes. Full bodied with great concentration, a beautiful texture and a long finish.

96 Points - Wine Advocate
A big step up, and showing that the warmer, richer years dish out the most pleasure at maturity, the 1990 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reserve is drop-dead gorgeous, and close to my favorite of the night. Possessing a thrillingly complex, mature feel, with full-bodied richness and a layered, textured and seamless mouthfeel, this puppy was singing, with loads of lavender, peppery herbs, game and dried flower-like aromas and flavors. I don’t see it getting any better, and would drink it while it still has this voluptuous, hedonistic slant that makes it such a joy to drink.

95 Points - Decanter
This 26-year-old has a clear, blood-red hue and a fully mature though wonderfully aromatic character: graceful, accessible and well-ordered. Allusions you might find include pine honey, wild mushrooms, dusty leaves at the end of summer and cured meats hanging over an open fireplace. A magnificent palate, too, though again at full maturity for me: plum, prune and raisin notes, all somehow singed by time into a dark, bitter-edged fruitcake-and-tobacco intensity. The supporting tannins are still superb, but the quality of the fruit and the nature of the allusions suggest full maturity now. (AJ)
