Overview of the Wine
The Domaine de Montille was established in Volnay in the middle of the XVIII century. Today it farms 20 hectares of vines, essentially Premier and Grand Crus, mainly in the Côte de Beaune but also in the Côte de Nuits. The domaine produces about 8,000 cases covering 20 appellations. During the XX century, Hubert de Montille wrote the finest pages of the domaine’s history. The lawyer and his children have always strived to return their domaine, which had declined in the past, to the stature it once enjoyed. Furthermore, it is thanks to Hubert that during the 1960’s the domaine became renowned around the world.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Pezerolles is often thought of as an outlier because it is the most finesseful of the Pommard 1er Crus. Even though it sits on the other side of the village from Volnay, it's floral, delicate, and graceful profile is often described as being Volnay-esque.

92 Points - Vinous
Medium red. Pure cherry and raspberry aromas lifted by violet and rose petal notes. Sappy, floral fruit shows lovely sweetness and energy thanks to well-integrated acidity and peppery lift on the end. Dense, chewy and saline on the brisk finish. "The aromas of 2008 are like those of the '78s," notes Etienne de Montille.

92 Points - Burghound
A restrained, indeed almost reluctant nose of red currant, plum, earth and violets is very much in keeping with the minerally, detailed and beautifully precise medium-bodied flavors that possess a highly appealing mouth feel on the linear, austere and serious finish. Again, a lovely and understated effort. Outstanding

90 Points - Wine Advocate
Vinified two-thirds vendange entier, De Montille’s 2008 Pommard Pezerolles brims with fresh, tart-edged red currant, strawberry, and red raspberry, allied to smoked meat and pungent herbs. Bright and finely-tannic, this lean though long Pezerolles delivers mouth-watering savor, but I would be inclined to plan on enjoying it over the next 6-8 years rather than anticipating long-term aging potential of the sort this bottling often exhibits.
