Overview of the Wine
Our journey began in 2017 with the belief that the Walla Walla Valley was poised to rise on the world wine stage. We were particularly intrigued by a small wine-growing appellation called The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater, where a unique 3,600-acre area possessed one essential quality for global significance: terroir. Terroir refers to the natural environment where a specific wine is produced, including soil, topography, and climate. This distinctiveness of place is rare in the wine world and allows both connoisseurs and novices to be instantly transported to that location when they smell or taste wines from these regions. This characteristic is what makes Burgundy, Barolo, Bordeaux, and Napa Valley stand out in an increasingly crowded market of wine choices.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
The 2021 Syrah comes from Le Mani (“The Hands”) Vineyard, one of our estate vineyards, which was planted in 2001 and was formerly known as River Rock Vineyard. This vineyard is named in honor of the farm workers who tend to the grapes by hand.  The wine underwent 33-day maceration and was aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak. It elicits compelling floral aromatics along with wet rock minerality, dark raspberry, and baking spice, with flavors of dried orange rind, black olive tapenade, and bacon fat.

The 2021 Cimento Syrah underwent 10% whole cluster fermentation, The wine comes form the Le Mani Vineyard in the Rocks District. Stored in 33% new French oak for 18 months this delivers black olive tapenade and smoldering stone alongside Umami and bacon fat notes. The palate is refined and elegant with a smooth mouthfeel and wonderful stony character. The savory character and tart black fruits with beef drippings really adds to the enjoyment. Drink 2024-2034
