Overview of the Wine
The Bandol wine region, located near the coast east of Marseille and Cassis, is one of Provence's most internationally recognised wine regions. Built around the village of Bandol, the Bandol region is the heart of super high quality, dry rosé from this idyllic part of the world. The main grape here is Mourvedre, which produces dark, heavy reds with plenty of earth complexity. When expressed as rosé the wines are spicy and full, with plenty of power and stuffing, despite their freshness.

Chateau de Font Vive takes full advantage of the complexity and power of the grape, with a hands-off approach that has its origins in family history from decades past. Having grown up in the region, the founders knew that by letting the grape and soil shine, the wines would speak for themselves. No need for complex winemaking or too much trickery - nature had blessed them with all the necessary ingredients for brilliant wine.

Winemaker Phillipe Barthe is a generational winemaker - he learnt his trade at his mother's knee, the secrets of the soil and the grape passed down through generations. These wines are soulful and deep, and express not only the local terroir, but family knowledge, earned over the years. Delicious.

Tasting Notes
A really lovely translucent, almost salmon, pink colour. The nose shows off a great range of characters, with a mix of spiced peach, pomegranate and cranberry, backed up by ripe citrus and flinty notes. It is nicely concentrated and round in the mouth, and the palate has more of those delicious spicy ripe peach and cherry flavours, that finishes concluding dry with plenty of piquancy and great slatey soil aftertaste. Ready to drink straight away, this will age beautifully.
