Overview of the Wine
After generations of stewarding their vineyards and selling grapes to the village cooperative, the Launois family flipped the script and built a winery and cellar to produce grower Champagnes under the label Paul Launois. Julien Launois is the winemaker and generation behind the change, and he named the brand after his son Paul. Sarah, Julien's wife and Paul's mother, is the creative mind behind the branding, bringing the label to life through her art and graphic designs. In the couple's words, "Champagne Paul Launois is a love story, the love of a man and a woman, the love of wine and art, the love of a son and a family."

Winemaker Notes
This Champagne Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is made in Mesnil sur Oger, in the prestigious Côte des Blancs, with the Chardonnay grape variety.

Its very low content of liquor dosage makes it an “Extra Brut.” This bias allows the wine to express more freely the finesse of its aromas as well that the identity of the terroir.

The Cuvée MONOCHROME fully expresses the chalky terroir and Mineral. The fineness of the bubbles highlights the salinity of the wine and the slightly buttery aromas of Chardonnay. 

93 Points - The Wine Palate
The NV Monochrome #7 skips out of the glass with energetic notes of lime blossoms, lemon tart, and grapefruit, followed by hints of honey toast and shaved almonds. The palate is tightly wound and crisp with a great intensity of citrus and biscuity flavors and a satisfyingly dry, chalky finish. This is so wonderfully elegant! 9000 bottles were made.

Lemon peel, grapefruit and pie crust on the nose. It’s minerally and lightly yeasty on the palate, with a dry, pithy and rather delicate finish. 100% chardonnay from Le Mesnil sur Oger. Based on 2021. Disgorged June 2024. 1 g/L dosage. Drink now.
