Overview of the Wine
The magnificent Château d’Arricau-Bordes, with its breathtaking view of the Pyrenees, has been instrumental in establishing the noble reputation of the Madiran appellation. Its ancestral, now-renovated vineyard stretches across 12 parcels (14 hectares), composed primarily of the Tannat grape variety. The skilled hand of four artisan winegrowers enables this varietal to achieve its ultimate expression on its native soil

Historical research demonstrates that this is one of the oldest seigneurial properties in the Vic-Bilh region. Although the entrance gate is marked with the year 1583, this date refers to a restoration, proving an even greater construction antiquity. We owe this exceptional built heritage to the Arricau seigneury, with the first documented evidence of its existence dating back to 1150. Château Arricau-Bordes was restored in 1968 after several decades of neglect. The cellars were also renovated during that period by the owner at the time. Today, the cellars and the vineyard are managed by the winegrowers of Plaimont, who work meticulously while adhering strictly to tradition.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
To favour the diffusion of the most qualitative aromas and tannins, the maceration of the Tannat does not exceed 25 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally, thus contributing to the balance and roundness of these wines. It takes place from November to March, depending on the tanks. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, one-third of which are renewed each year, for 11 months. Approximately three rackings are carried out during this period, which is followed by 4 months of ageing in stainless steel tanks to bring harmony to this wine.The wine is aged in French oak barrels, one-third of which are renewed each year, for 11 months.
