Crafted by Russell Bevan, one of the most sought-after winemakers in California today, Addax is an artisan winery founded by Brian Kearney and Josh Peeples. What began with a few friends and a few barrels of Cabernet in 2009 has evolved into a phenomenal portfolio of wines, including Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon, Petaluma Gap and Sta. Rita Pinot Noir, and a selection of Sonoma Chardonnays.

After more than a decade, we continue our quest to work with exceptional vineyard sites to produce wines with brazen personality. As a part of The Institution family of wines, made at 2100 Hoffmane Lane, we utilize our winery in Yountville to highlight some of California’s most sought-after vineyards. Our dedicate cellar team is passionate about producing wines that stand shoulder to shoulder with the most sought after wines in the world.

Bevan is one of the most sought after winemakers today and one of the world’s most acclaimed. A superstar with critics, colleagues and consumers alike. Wine critics regularly praise his wines, providing correspondingly sky-high scores.  You would recognize his work from a number of our past wine club favorites such as Elyse, Belden Barns, Morgado, and his own label, Bevan Cellars.

Overview of the Wine
Made by Russell Bevan, one of the most sought-after winemakers in California today, Addax is a small winery project led by Josh Peeples that began in 2009. This newly released 2017 is comprised of 100% Tench Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Tench Vineyard is a 60-acre property with 42-acres of vine. It’s on a hill in the heart of east Oakville along Oakville Cross Road and neighbors Screaming Eagle to the north and Rudd and Harbison to the west. Tench Vineyard contains red soils of clay and volcanic rock which marries perfectly with their cabernet vines. It is one of the most sought-after vineyards for sourcing great Oakville fruit and for good reason.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon blends four incredible single vineyards, two from the valley floor and two from mountain sites. Together they create a beautiful rendition of Cabernet Sauvignon with classic flavors of black cherry, crème de cassis and cedar. The palate is rich and satisfying yet finishes with a juicy texture that keeps you coming back for another sip. This is the Cabernet that everyone at the table is sure to enjoy.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it leaps from the glass with crème de cassis and plum preserves notions, plus fragrant hints of baking spices and potpourri. The medium to full-bodied palate has beautifully ripe, fine-grained tannins and a lively backbone, delivering a long, elegant finish.
