Overview of the Wine
Situated on the left side of the river Douro, with over 50 hectares under vines, the vineyard produces grapes of the richest varieties, trodden in the traditional way and fermented on granite vats in order to extract their finest essences. The wine is aged in oak casks before being selectively blended to satisfy the most refined palates.

Where are our vineyards (Vale do Conde and Eirados) and our cellar, we find Roman remains dated from the first century. They were the ones who started the wine production.

Our family came to the Douro in the 17th century but it is our great-grandfather Bernardo Rodrigues de Carvalho who in 1864 started a process of growth and acquisition of vineyards and production  of the Port Quinta Santa Eufemia

Tasting Notes
This 2004 Colheita was aged for 12 years in chestnut barrels and bottled in 2016. Amber brown in color and very fragrant. The port has a pleasantly rich but soft taste; and is finished with a cork closure - unfined and unfiltered.

92 Points - Ian Blackburn
Like a dry red wine, this wine has matured with less sweetness in mind than say a MV or BLENDED TAWNY.  There is a singularity here that I find appealing - it maybe bottled one barrel at a time rather than blended together...  there is an absolute GODSMACK (defined as "The return of the energy you willfully send out the world. Getting that which you gave. "AKA - Karma'") of focus - not the broad, round, creamy wine - but a wine of smoke, flint, crushed rock, minerality, and the alcohol (about 20%) even promotes this feature.  I think this dessert wine promotes and evokes conversation - I love so much about this wine but also stress this is a tiny producer and the style is less about "pleasing everyone" and more about "finding those that enjoy this style" - I wouldn't have purchased it for the store if I didn't like it... and or stand behind it - but this is not a 100 point wine...  Color 13.5  Aroma 22.5/25 Structure 23/25 Overall Impressive 32/25 = 92 Points
