Overview of the Wine
Bodegas Vidal Capità was created by Captain Enrique Vidal in 1985. Navy Insigne with great experience as solo sailor. After two trips around the world went on to make what would be his great dream, founding the winery Capità Vidal with his wife Tati Fuchs, navigator, sailing skate champion and many miles at sea

Together they built up a family-based winery producing small quantities of still wines and sparkling wines (Cavas). The quality of these products was well received by experts from different countries. 

Located in the grape growing area of the Penedes Superior (Upper Penedes) in Barcelona Province, 50km south-west of the city. It is an elevated plain at 200 metres above sea level and is protected from the cold northerly wines by the Montserrat mountain range.

The influence of the Mediterranean Sea, the sun and the characteristics of the soil, mean this area has all the right ingredients for growing good grapes.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
This Cava has the combination of the bouquet and the fruity notations, maintaining a dry palate. Straw-yellow in colour, it has fine bubbles that are released vertically and regularly. It forms a crown. It is clean and complex on the nose, with aromas of ageing and fresh fruit and herbs. It has a good mouthfeel, is smooth and dry, and has a good constitution. Pairs well with general appetizers, fish and light meats.

Straw yellow color. Clean and complex aroma of fresh fruit, herbs and aging / autolytic notes.  Complex with richness, roundness and definition.  The quality marks are significant and make this one of my favorite Cava.  Color 14, Aroma 23, Body 23, Overall 32/35 = 92 Points

Coming all from the 2014 vintage (despite being released as a non-vintage), the NV Fuchs de Vidal Reserva Cvuee Especial is fruit forward and vibrant, with lots of citrus, lime, and a hint of pineapple. It has bright, racy acidity, a pure, precise texture, and a crisp finish, and it’s going to be incredibly versatile on the dinner table. It’s also a smoking value.
