Overview of the Wine
Bodegas Frontonio was created in 2008 by three friends from Aragón, Fernando Mora, aspirant Master of Wine, Mario López, oenologist from Bodegas Borsao, and Francisco Latasa, lawyer and international trade expert.
The aim of Bodegas Frontonio is to dignify the area of Valdejalón and its vineyards, mainly planted with old Grenache, and with a continental-Mediterranean climate. In total, they directly manage around 50 hectares, with organic certification since 2017. Most part of the vineyards are located in the surroundings of Épila. They have different ages, exposures, altitudes and soil types. The climate is continental-Mediterranean with scarce rainfall (200-500 l/m2/year), 300 hours of sun per year, and days with a lot of wind, also called "Cierzo".
Frontonio El Casetero is a wine made in a cooperative in D.O. Campo de Borja, where they rent part of the winery and buy the grapes from the cooperative winegrowers themselves. 100% Grenache, harvested by hand and vinified in cement deposits. It is aged for 4 months in oak barrels.
