Overview of the Wine
Bodegas Jiménez-Landi is a modern winery boutique from Spain, in love with the nature and its fruits, fully respectful with the environment, and committed with the community. All the vineyards are 100% organic in balance with the local flora and landscape and personally supervised by the prestigious winemaker José B. Jiménez-Landi. The winery is pioneering in Spain in end-to-end product traceability, from the vineyard to the consumer.

The small estate is located in Méntrida and is in an old typical Toledana house where the oldest part, the cave, dates to the 16th century and was used by their ancestors to elaborate wine in clay vats. With romantic 16th century gardens, the estate has always been linked to the family, and the family always linked to winemaking and viticulture.

Bodegas Jiménez-Landi is now a modern boutique-winery belonging to the Spain´s Appellation of Origin “DOP Méntrida-Toledo”, one of the oldest in the country. The winery produces limited number of artisan wines following organic agriculture applying innovation and technology.

Tasting Notes
Sotorrondero is a coupage made with syrah of one of the plots located in the town of méntrida and the garnacha located in the village of real de san vicente.

Sotorrondero is a fairly intense and powerful wine, but also free-flowing and easily-drinkable, balanced and pleasurable, and one of those wines that always scores highly when its price is taken into consideration. At Jiménez-Landi, their work involves showing great respect for the environment, with little intervention during production processes, and this results in the wines conveying typicity, fruit and minerality.

This is a Garnacha and Syrah blend, or Syrah and Garnacha, as the balance is perfect; ripe Garnacha and fresh Syrah grapes; sweet and juicy Mediterranean Garnachas, and fresh northern Syrahs, high-altitude Syrahs, from vineyards that are planted at altitudes over 600 metres.

In appearance it is clean, of medium intensity and with a good show of tears, while rich in fruit aromas on the nose. It opens up in the glass with candy-sweet aromas which rapidly refresh and then ease off, highlighting ripe red fruit and some black too (blueberries, raspberries, mature plums) and notes of violets, vegetal hints, bakery, tobacco and balsamic notes. It is luscious overall, but also woodland, fresh, smooth and most appealing.

On the palate it is intense, powerful, with plenty of body but without excessive extraction, and has a fine balsamic bitterness: of eucalyptus on the nose and bay laurel on the palate. A sincere wine helping to introduce us to this denomination, Méntrida, still unknown to many.

93 Points - James Suckling
A wild nose, full of dried herbs, white pepper, red cherries and cranberries. Some blue flowers, too. Don’t be fooled by the relatively light and transparent color, as there are plenty of firm tannins on the palate, giving it a structured, full-bodied mouth-feel. A little austere, but racy, too.
