Overview of the Wine
The Castello di Verduno, owned by Gabriella Burlotto and Franco Bianco, is a beautiful old building at the top of the village of Verduno, on the edge of the Barolo zone. The Castello di Verduno wine label unites two cellars, one under the castle in the Barolo zone and the other near the famous 'cru' Rabajà, in the Barbaresco area. Tasting Notes
The 2021 Barolo shows lifted aromas of red cherry, rose, and dried herbs alongside subtle spice and mineral tones. The palate is refined and balanced, showing Verduno’s hallmark elegance—medium-bodied structure, polished tannins, and a long, gently savory finish.
92 Points - Jeb Dunnuck
A bright red color, the 2021 Barolo reveals more complexity on the nose, with focused notes of red cherries, cracked pepper, toasted spice, and thyme. The palate brings forward a nice level of energy, with medium-bodied richness, the refreshing spice of acidity, well-defined tannins, and a very nice finish. It has a lot to offer now or over the coming 10 years.
90 Points - Vinous
The 2021 Barolo is everything a wine in this peer group should be. Aromatic, bright and light on its feet, the 2021 is all charm. Crushed flowers, sweet red-toned fruit, cinnamon and pressed rose petal add to its allure.
