Overview of the Wine
Familia Torres, a renowned winemaking family with roots in Spain, has been producing wines for 151 years over 5 generations. Admired and inspiring, Familia Torres seamlessly unites tradition with innovation and follows a sustainable and innovative business model. As founding members of Primum Familiae Vini, a prestigious international association of world-class family-owned wineries, the family is closely connected to people and the land, and leads with energy, passion, and purpose. In 1979, Familia Torres arrived in Chile, marking an incontrovertible turning point in Chilean winemaking. Pioneers in the Maule wine region, they were the first foreign winery to arrive in the country, kickstarting a new era in the quality of Chilean wines. Embracing the continued pursuit for unique and distinctive wines, Miguel Torres Chile has worked diligently to revive ancestral varieties like the País grape in order to craft identity-driven wines with a sense of history. Over the years, this quest has led to unprecedented wines such as Escaleras de Empedrado, the first Pinot Noir grown on slate soils in Chile, and Manso de Velasco, produced from vines more than 150 years old. An exemplary winery and leader in high-end Chilean wines, Miguel Torres Chile today is under the direction of owner Miguel Torres Maczassek and is built upon by three pillars: organic farming and sustainability, and innovation.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Wild red berries on the nose, with very intense touches of herbs. Fresh and firm on the palate, with the typical rustic tannins of the País variety. The finish is extremely long and enticing.

País was the first vinifera grape variety to arrive in Chile. Given his rusticity and resilience was the variety preferred by the farmers of the dryland, especially in the Maule and Itata valleys. This wine is a living testimony of that ancient viticultural tradition, a fundamental pillar of Chilean wine.

91 Points - Wine Advocate
The pale ruby-colored and bright 2021 País from ancient vines in Coelemu has varietal notes of wild red berries and herbs, with some rustic tannins and all the characteristics from the varietal and the granite soils where the vines grow. It has medium ripeness and a medium body, with 13% alcohol and a balanced palate. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022 after four months in used barrels.

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Subtle sandalwood notes shape the nose of this Pais from the Itata region. It's fresh and enjoyable, offering smoky notes and lingering red fruit flavors with hints of peppercorn, driven by lively acidity.
