Giuseppe Quintarelli was the 'Maestro del Veneto', establishing a legendary estate over a 60-year period. He is known as the father of Amarone.

Since his passing, the legacy has been honored and continued first by Giuseppe’s daughter Fiorenza, and son-in-law Giampaolo, and now by his grandsons Francesco and Lorenzo.

The name itself stands for so many things, but more than anything, a way of doing things the right way.

The concept that keeps coming to mind about Quintarelli, the legendary Veneto estate, is fuoriclasse, meaning “unrivaled” or “without equal.” This wine, classified simply as “Veneto Rosso,” represents the height of winemaking traditions from the area. An aromatically explosive wine, made from a blend of local grapes (as well as a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc), the Cà del Merlo represents a unique vineyard expression, as well as a distillation of Giuseppe Quintarelli’s winemaking vision.

The 2018 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ca' del Merlo wafts up with an incredibly pretty, savory bouquet of dried Mediterranean herbs, geranium and citrus-tinged wild strawberries. It displays depths of ripe red and blue fruits underscored by crisp mineral tones as rosy inner florals arch across the palate, all over a core of tantalizing acidity. The finish is floral and long, leaving a tart sensation of raspberry as hints of lavender fade slowly. This is a supremely elegant and refined vintage for Ca' del Merlo.
