Overview of the Wine
Our vineyard is in the heart of the acclaimed Bridge Pa Triangle wine region of Hawke’s Bay, on New Zealand’s North Island. The site is all gravel soils and gentle contours, surrounded by hills and blessed with long, lingering summers and clear, crisp winters… exceptional conditions to create exceptional wines.
The name Paritua is a tribute to the Paritua Stream, which meanders gently through the vineyard. Paritua means the meandering stream above the ancient river. The vineyard is planted over the historical riverbed of the nearby Ngaruroro River which flowed through pre the 1860s earthquake. It is a name that also acknowledges the connection with the land and the people of New Zealand.
Jason grew up in Hawke’s Bay New Zealand, enjoying cold winters playing rugby, hiking, and racing bicycles, Indian summers filled with backyard cricket, softball, swimming, cycle racing and exploring New Zealand.
At 20 years old Jason headed to France to race in the tough amateur road racing competition. He raced for a Bordeaux based club for two seasons. After a chance tasting of a 1961 Chateau Haut Brion Magnum, he decided wine was his future.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
This Cabernet Sauvignon is a prime example of the style produced from the stony soils of Hawke’s Bay. Deep red in colour, ripe aroma’s of blackberry, cocoa powder, cardamom, vanilla, and cedar notes from the oak. The palate is plush and velvety and shows dark fruits dominated by blackberry and a hint of mocha, supported by fleshy tannins. The oak influence is subtle and provides structure and a light vanilla lift to the aroma. This wine will continue to age gracefully for several years. Ideal drinking from 2020 till 2026.
94 Points - Cameron Douglas, MS
Intense, precise, varietal and powerful bouquet of cabernet with aromas of dark plum, black blackberry, tobacco and hay, roasted bell-pepper and earthy stone, clay and rocky earthy complexities. Bold, fruity, firm and dry on the palate with a core of fruit flavours that reflect the nose, plenty of tannins to add texture, complexity and mouthfeel. Acidity adds contrast to the core of fruit and length. Very young, but entirely drinkable today and through 2028+.
