Overview of the Wine
Turley Wine Cellars was founded in 1993 by Larry Turley and makes forty-seven wines, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture.

All of Turley’s vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and the winery uses all natural yeasts in the fermentations.

Turley aims to be stewards of some of California’s most distinctive vineyards, producing authentic wines that reflect their heritage.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Ueberroth was planted in 1885, making it the oldest of the Turley Zinfandel vineyards. It also happens to be the closer to the sea than any other site, providing salty sea air for these ungrafted, head-trained vines to flourish. The vineyard is planted on extremely steep limestone slopes, with a soil featuring a higher pH level to enhance acidity. Upon harvest the grapes are fermented with natural yeasts, then aged in 80% used oak barriques, in which 80% are French oak and 20% are American oak. The wine is bottled after being aged for 15 months in barrel. 

Aromatically this wine is full of ripe dark fruits and enticing minerality. On the palate, the wine has silken tannins with raspberries and black cherries, along with a racy amount of acidity that balances out the wine.

A dynamic Zin, rich and structured, this is jammed with personality, offering blackberry and cherry flavors accented by licorice, fruitcake spice and savory briar tones that build polish on the lush finish. Drink now through 2036.

Zinfandel Ueberroth Vineyard is stellar. Blackberry jam, incense, chocolate, licorice and cloves saturate the palate. This full-bodied, unctuous Zinfandel is seriously impressive. Bright acids pull it all together on the close. In 2023, the Ueberroth Zinfandel is a total stunner.
