Overview of the Wine
As a family owned vineyard and winery, Punt Road aims to create wines that reflect the heritage of their site, and the independent, creative energy of the Yarra Valley. Punt Road is a benchmark for cool climate Aussie styles. These are all single vineyard wines with a heritage, and priced favorably against Burgundy and California. Many of the vines planted 20+ years ago, hand-picked and often fermented wild. Freshness, acid-driven, moderate alcohol, all French oak (mostly neutral).

Led by winemaker Tim Shand, Punt Road takes pride in making site-driven, exciting wines that reflect the earthiness and personality of the Yarra Valley through minimalist intervention techniques. They only produce wines from their own vineyard in Coldstream with grapes hand-selected by Winemaker Tim Shand.

Grape / Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon

Yarra Valley, Australia

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
At over three decades in age, Napoleone is the oldest block on the property. Its Cab is a broody, savory number, with earthy notes of ground pepper, black olive and menthol, scrubby Mediterranean spice alongside plum and black-cherry fruit and chocolaty oak.

The palate is equally reticent, with leathery, drying tannins and a lift of acidity. Strikes balance between fruity tang and earthy spice, power and freshness.
