Overview of the Wine
As a family winery we have been thinking in generations and this since 1803.

Today, the winery is run by Marion and Gerhard J., supported by the experience and the unbroken urge of Gerhard's parents Maria and Gerhard.

The passion for historical steep slopes has always been around. For challenging vineyards that have produced the best wines for centuries each year. A responsibility that we are aware of and which we want to live up with all our strength.

Elaborate care, careful reclamation and maintenance are the parameters we act on. We cultivate the magic of the small steps. For our children Moritz, Samuel and Noah, and for the region in which we live.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Bright yellow-green, silver reflections. With a hint of orange zest lined up fine white peach note, with a tropical touch underlaid, bright minerals, floral touch. Tight, white stone fruit, a hint of saffron and ginger, finesse-rich, very well integrated acid structure, material and adhering, shows great precision and length, reliable ripening potential.

The brilliance of the stone-fruit and wild-berry aromas is as astonishing as the mountain freshness of this sleek, dry riesling. Extremely juicy on the barely medium-bodied palate, where the wet-stone character and racy acidity complete the diamond-bright picture. Very long and pure finish. From a supersteep vineyard site up to 570 meters above sea level. Vegan. Sustainable. Drink or hold.

Winner in the Riesling 2022 category in content, body-rich with 98/100 points in the a la carte Grand Cru Riesling tasting: “The Wohlmuth family has always cultivated the Riesling in the Kitzecker room. With the planting of the Dr. Desired a slate location with enormously steep exposure was established, which results in a great, tight, tight-meshed Riesling.”

The 2023 Ried Dr. Wunsch Riesling has a very clear nose with very ripe, slightly honey-spicy fruit, which shows little coolness, but due to the high altitude of the Sausal, it also has less warmth than wines from lower-lying vineyards from this hot, dry vintage. From vines that are only 15 years old, this is a juicy, elegant, delicate, crystalline and stimulatingly salty Riesling with spicy savoriness, lots of juice and creaminess with a full body. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
