Overview of the Wine
The roots of the Leflaive family go back to 1717 when Claude Leflaive took up residence in Puligny-Montrachet, intent upon cultivating several acres of vineyards. The domaine, in its present form, was created by Joseph Leflaive between the years of 1910-1930, as a result of his successive purchases of vineyards and houses. Domaine Leflaive has been entirely a family domaine since its creation. Brice de La Morandière, great-grandson of the founder, Joseph Leflaive, represents the fourth generation at the head of the domaine. In 2015, after an international corporate career, he succeeded Anne-Claude, pioneer in biodynamics. It is with the same philosophy of respect for the great terroirs, humility toward the forces of nature and relentless pursuit of excellence in viticulture and in winemaking that the domaine will continue to grow in the future.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Les Combettes is one of the most renowned premier cru vineyards in the commune of Puligny Montrachet, largely owned by the Domaine Leflaive which gives life to this splendid wine. The old Chardonnay vineyards give few but very concentrated bunches. Part of the vinification and aging take place in barrique. The aromas are splendid, notes of exotic fruit and roasting combine with dried fruit and spices. On the palate it is savory and full-bodied, with a long persistence.
96 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2019)
I'm inclined to nominate the 2019 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes as Leflaive's finest premier cru this year. Wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, citrus oil, fresh peach, toasted nuts and smoke, it's full-bodied, rich and satiny, with an immensely concentrated and incisive profile. Taut and chiseled despite its mid-palate plenitude, it's built to cellar.
93-95 Points - Burghound
Moderate reduction is sufficient to mask the underlying fruit today. More interesting are the wonderfully fine and delicate yet punchy flavors that possess a highly sophisticated mouthfeel before culminating in a sappy saline and strikingly persistent finish. I very much like the balance and this beauty may well prove to be a great Combettes in time.
