Overview of the Brand
By encouraging biodiversity on the vineyard floor, using organic farming practices, and controlling crop yields for optimal ripening, we believe devoting ourselves to our vineyards through sustainable, hands-on viticulture is the first step in great winemaking. It is our commitment to Willamette Valley, combined with a sensibility and natural inquisitiveness developed over 170 years of winemaking in Burgundy, that defines our wines.
Our winemaking approach is about having a good knowledge of the best of a vineyard’s terroir with minimal intervention in the winery. Our attention to detail requires openness as well as experience, both traits found in our winemakers, Guillaume Large and Jacques Lardière. Only through curiosity can we transmit what the soil has given us to the glass. The winemaking is simple at Résonance. We pick the grapes when they are ripe, but not too ripe, and when they come to the winery, we give them as much freedom as possible to express themselves. Every vintage is different, based on what the grapes need—macerations will vary in length and temperature, we do not inoculate with yeast, and we let the wines rest quietly in barrels.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
This Pinot Noir features fruit from our second estate, Découverte Vineyard. The grapes are handpicked in the heart of the Dundee Hills wine region and defined by the red-fruit character and freshness typical of their volcanic Jory soils.
Benefiting from the cool and even harvesttime of the 2021 vintage, the Découverte Pinot noir has an elegant fragrance of wild strawberry, rose, and liquorice root. The palate is delicate and supple, with expressive fruity and floral aromas, balanced by vivid tension and energy.
In 2021 a late cool spring was contrasted by record heat in June. Fortunately, a warm and dry summer evened-out the dynamic start to the growing season, with high quality fruit in small clusters. We harvested Pinot noir from September 9th to September 23rd. In all our vineyards the fruit was ripe and very clean. The wines display beautiful color, complex aromas and distinct freshness. With such quality, we were able to push the maceration time, revealing concentration and well balanced wines.
95 Points - Decanter
A smaller vineyard, 3ha planted in 1996, Dundee Hills fleshy red fruits, this wine is gorgeously fruited with lifting character of mint and white pepper. Candied red fruits transition to elegance and savoury 30% new French oak, 18 months in barrel. This wine distinguishes itself on spice and lifted fruit character. Elegance and freshness drive a generosity of fruit, with wild red berries, bright pomegranate and candied strawberry flavours. Drinking window 2024-2034.
94 Points - Vinous
The 2021 Pinot Noir Découverte Vineyard is simply stunning, enticing with dark florals and mentholated herbal tones elevating its crushed blackberry fruit. This opens with a pleasant inner sweetness and textures of pure silk, giving way to depths of vividly ripe black cherries that swirl under an air of violet pastille. The 2021 lingers impossibly long while maintaining a lovely inner freshness. Hints of licorice and lavender fade over a sour citrus tinge and gently grippy tannins. Drink 2025-2032.
93 Points - Wine Spectator
Handsomely built and dynamic, this Pinot offers raspberry and cherry flavors framed by stony minerality and forest floor tones while building tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032. (Jun 2024)
91 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Lighter in body, this Pinot Noir is graced by electrifying acidity, tart red cherry, green tea and clove flavors, and a long finish. The wine's aromas are earthy, with loamy soil uniting with blackberries, pine needles and grilled portobello mushrooms.
