Overview of the Wine
The Germano estate, founded in 1856 by Francis Germano, began as a wine-growing property. It quickly established itself as one of the premier wine-growing estates in all of Piedmont. Today, the estate is run by Sergio Germano. Sergio's father, Ettore, was long recognized as a master grafter of the region. Producers all over the appellation paid him by the vine to replant their vineyards. So it comes as no surprise that Sergio has emerged as one of the best producers in Piedmont. After taking over in 1993, he merged his formidable technical winemaking knowledge with his family's great terroir, old vines and incredible tradition, creating an estate that has become among the very best in Piedmont.
Germano's Alta Langa Extra Brut is a dazzling blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made in the Traditional Method. Bright yellow in the glass displaying a persistent stream of miniscule bubbles. Intoxicating aromas of orchard and citrus fruits mingle with notes of white flowers and brioche. The palate is fresh and crisp showcasing flavors of green apple, white peach and lemon zest enveloped by a creamy mousse that coats the tongue leading to a refreshing and toasty finish. Fantastic on its own, though can be paired with a variety of fried or seafood appetizers.

Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Intense straw yellow color with a fine and persistent perlage. Nose is bread crust, dried fruits (peach, apricots), with some underlying floral notes. Palate is full and rich with a good acidity and creamy sensation given by the perlage which helps to clean the mouth and gives a good aromatic persistence.
Sparkling wine is always a way to celebrate with friends and loved ones but can also be a wine that pairs well with salami and cheese, a quiche or even shellfish.
92 Points: Wine Spectator
This mouthwatering sparkler integrates buoyant acidity with a fine, lacy texture, showing a pleasing range of crushed blackberry, poached apricot, orange curd and chopped almond flavors. A streak of salty minerality offers a tangy presence throughout, while accents of lemon oil, candied ginger and fresh thyme play on the finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
