Super Stars of Chablis
Dec 19, 2024
1: SAMUEL BILLAUD, ‘LES GRANDS TERROIRS’ CHABLIS, BURGUNDY, FRANCE, 2022
93 Points - Vinous: The 2022 Chablis Grands Terroirs comes from the usual three parcels. The nose offers yellow plum and verbena, touches of chalk emerging with aeration. The palate has real "zing" on the entry, sharp and pointed, taut and linear, revivifying the senses with impressive concentration on the finish. Citrus-fresh, very saline - superb.

1: DOMAINE MOREAU-NAUDET, 'VAILLONS' CHABLIS 1ER CRU, BURGUNDY, FRANCE, 2022
92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Wafting from the glass with attractive aromas of pear, orange zest, white flowers and freshly baked bread, the Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons is medium to full-bodied, with an elegantly satiny attack that segues into a layered core of bright fruit, concluding with a saline, perfumed finish.

2: JEAN ET SEBASTIEN DAUVISSAT, CHABLIS VAILLONS PREMIER CRU, BURGUNDY, FRANCE, 2018
92 Points - Wine Enthusiast: Hay, chalk and lemon have overtones of ripe Williams pear and juicy Mirabelle plum on the inviting nose of this wine. The palate holds the same fruitiness and layers of aroma but it presents them in a more linear, stony and cool fashion. Rounded and creamy ripeness from the 2018 vintage reappears on the finish but has a cooler spin.

3: DOMAINE PINSON FRÈRES, CHABLIS MONT DE MILIEU PREMIER CRU, BURGUNDY, FRANCE, 2022
92-95 Points - Jasper Morris: 15% is vinified in new wood, then matured as the other 1ers crus. A little more yellow in the colour, and a slight touch of coconut on the nose. The wood can be detected on the palate too but it will certainly integrate. There is a fine full bodied classical Chablis lurking behind. A notably long succulent finish, then some classical minerality. Certainly, a fine acid balance. They make sure to pick here very early thus avoiding the over exotic character seen in some cellars. The 2022 is set to be a great success. Drink from 2028-2038.
